Our Commitment to Accessibility

Uprising Seeds is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnification, or keyboard-only navigation. We believe that access to good seed and good growing information shouldn't depend on how you browse the web.

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the widely recognized standard for web accessibility. This is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix, and we review and improve the site on a regular basis.

What We've Done

As part of this effort, we've made the following improvements across the site:

  • Added descriptive labels to navigation, search, cart, and product controls so they can be understood by screen readers, not just seen
  • Improved keyboard navigation, including a visible focus indicator and a "skip to content" link so keyboard users can bypass repeated navigation
  • Corrected color contrast across text, buttons, and interactive elements to meet WCAG AA guidelines
  • Fixed inconsistent or missing alternative text on images
  • Reviewed and corrected page structure (headings, forms, and interactive components) for compatibility with assistive technology
  • Enabled pinch-to-zoom on mobile devices for visitors who need to enlarge content

We also use UserWay's accessibility widget (the icon in the corner of your screen) to provide on-the-fly adjustments like larger text, contrast controls, and screen reader support. The widget is a helpful supplement to this work, not a substitute for it — our priority has been fixing the underlying site itself.

Ongoing Work

Accessibility is not a project with an end date. We periodically review the site as we add new products, photography, and pages, and we correct issues as they're found. If something on our site is difficult to use, we want to know about it and fix it.

Our site links to some third-party services (such as payment processors and shipping carriers) that we do not control and cannot guarantee are fully accessible.
